Obituary for
Joseph R. Huegel Sr.
Joseph R. Huegel Sr., 76, of Allentown passed away on February 21, 2017 at home, surrounded by his family, after a courageous 15 year battle with cancer. He was born in Ashland on August 17, 1940, to the late Russell and Agnes (McGrath) Huegel. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Peggy (Rupp) Huegel. Joseph graduated from Allentown High School in 1959. He was a Veteran of United States Marine Corps. He retired from PPL where he was a lineman for 36 years. After retirement he was an electrician at the Allentown Fairgrounds and also at Community Options Inc. He was a current member of St. John’s UCC of Whitehall, and former member of Dubbs Memorial UCC of Allentown. He was a runner with Lehigh Valley Road Runners, where he ran several half marathons, and a life member of Fullerton Fire Co. In addition to his wife Peggy he is survived by two sons; Joseph R. Huegel Jr. and wife Jenny, and Steven G. Huegel and wife Tara, two Granddaughters; Lydia M. Huegel and Jessica L. Huegel, two grandsons; Connor J. Huegel and Dylan J. Huegel all of Allentown. Also survied by his beloved pet Franky. A celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday, March 4th 2017, from 1:00PM to 4:00PM at Calvary Moravian Church, 948 N. 21st St. Allentown, PA 18104.
